UPCOMING FILMS by Joanne Caputo

Jail cell art
"INSIDE OUT"
More Americans are behind bars than at any other time in history, and two out of three inmates - a record high - return to prison after release. African American men now face a 30 percent risk of incarceration before age thirty, compared to 4 percent for whites. The cost to taxpayers is nearly $25,000 per inmate per year. Can prison art programs reverse the trend and truly rehabilitate? Follow a maximum security prisoner as he creates award-winning art from scavenged material and carves a plan for success beyond bars.

FRIENDS OF THE FILMMAKER
Filmmaker Joanne Caputo welcomes community support to fund the production of the above "socially responsible" films, as well as ON A ROLL's finish expenses. Every dollar counts, supporting a wide range of out-of-pocket expenses. Here's an example:

$4 buys a mini-DV tape (each project uses dozens!)
$30 buys a tank of gas for the car during each road travel day
$50 pays a film festival entry fee
$60 buys an hour of digitizing footage (it takes several weeks to digitize an entire project)
$375 buys an hour of final on-line finish editing (ON A ROLL used more than 25 hours)
$1,500 buys closed captioning services
$2,000 pays an editor for a week (4-6 weeks likely)
$5,000 pays for a final sound mix ... or film insurance ... or legal fees ... or a production assistant
